Ocean King was a blast. If you think this is a slow quiet boat, don’t book. But if you want to have a good time, alright food, great service, and drinks, this is the boat for you. It rained a little and that didn’t stop anything, we saw whales, and was able to enjoy the water slides. Me and my group was dancing, enjoying ourself, and everyone was happy. We even had people bringing up their kids to dance with us, so yes the boat is very kid friendly. 5/5 Highly recommend, and it was a spacious boat.

This optional tour was part of a Gate1 travel adventure. The Catamaran Ocean King Manuel Antonio is the largest Catamaran in Costa Rica. The approximately 4 hour tour was fantastic—very friendly crew, very knowledgeable, and intent on providing everyone with a very enjoyable cruise. Lots of opportunities for water activities—swimming, snorkeling, water slides, fresh water jacuzzis, fishing, high diving, etc. Fabulous lunch on board. Unlimited free non-alcoholic drinks and snacks, and 4 free alcoholic drinks. Absolutely first rate, and one of the highlights of our 13 day visit to this country. If one goes to Manuel Antonio, the catamaran excursion on the Ocean King is highly recommended. While the capacity of the boat is about 200, we went end of November just before start of heavy tourist season and only had about 30 people on board which made the tour exceptionally nice.

We rented the Ocean King for a group of 22 of us and the first thing I have to say is that is it HUGE! It is probably different with a shared tour with 150+ people, but we loved the boat. Snacks + lunch were great, the photographer was amazing, and we all were so excited that we could jump off the top of the boat. For a group, this is the perfect excursion.

It was a wonderful experience and the minibus driver is an attentive and excellent person. The only thing I didn't like is that they don't have organization in terms of seats and places to store things. It is also not pleasant to walk barefoot since the deck becomes dirty. Otherwise, I can assure you that it is an unforgettable experience and all the staff is very pleasant.

This boat was a party!!! Everyone was having a blast, great music, drinks and facilities. Unfortunately, the waters were murky because it had rained the day before and we weren’t able to see fish while snorkeling. People still swam, jumped and had fun!
A party boat - nothing more

This was sold to us as a “whale watching” trip but is basically a party boat that hugs the coastline. We saw nothing except nice scenery. There’s a lot of booze (4 drinks included) and some passable food, you can snorkel if you wish (kiddie level) but won’t see much, and can jump off the boat to swim or go down a slide. The kids and teenagers on board loved it but the adults looked less impressed probably because they were paying the $86 a head bill and we’re expecting to actually go out to sea to find something interesting to look at. The staff were very nice and it runs like a well oiled machine in getting you on and off and well oiled with various rum punches. But there are far cheaper party boats around.

It was very crowded (140 people) on the Saturday we went even though it was low season. More of a party atmosphere. Jacuzzis got gross quickly with that many people in them. We knew we weren’t guaranteed to see wildlife but still hoped we’d see something. There is also barely narration on this trip. Other catamaran tours we’ve taken in different countries shared way more information. Moving forward we will always be sure to choose a smaller boat and make sure there is narration since that is what we enjoy. Employees were very nice for having to deal with this many people.
