Beach, Sun and the Surf´s up! The Manuel Antonio beach offers perfect conditions to learn how to ride a surfboard and depending on the tides offers as well great settings for more experienced surfers. In this surf lesson you will be accompanied and guided by our local surf instructors that know perfectly how to read the waves and choose just the best one for you to ride. In this class you will get the tools you need to learn how to safely paddle out, read waves and catch waves.

What To Expect
Manuel Antonio
We will be Paddle Boarding along the scenic coastline of Manuel Antonio. We will pass by small islands which nest local sea birds, we will paddle alongside the volcanic rock cliffs that make up the coastline. This is truly an experience that should not be missed while in Manuel Antonio

Surf lessons, Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica with Paddle 9

I was able to convince my family to take surf lessons, Kevin and Matty were fantastic instructors. We had such an epic day shredding waves. They helped progressively move us from white water surfing to paddling into the wave all on our own. It was easy to see they love the water and what they do, it showed in the way the instructed. If you want to learn to surf while I’m Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica I recommend using Paddle 9. Not interested in surfing, that’s ok, they have many adventures they offer. We have loved all the ones we went on.

If you've ever wanted to learn to surf or have fear of the activity, don't hesitate to sign up for this one!
I was really impressed with Paddle9. Matt picked us up at our hotel and his positive energy was immediately noticable. The short ride to the office (we had to finish some payments/paperwork) was already filled with awesome conversation. He told us about his life in Costa Rica, gave us recommendations on places to check out for food and night life, and made us feel completely comfortable.
Once at the beach, we met up with Alejandro who would be our other instructor. We got started with training on the sand, and the tips on formation that we received were really clear and easy to understand. Alejandro was truly great at his craft, he told us that he'd been surfing for many, many years and enjoys getting to teach others the thing he loves.
Once in the water, we were able to utilize those training tips and after about 1 hour (and a few falls! Lol), I was finding myself standing on a surf board! They gave us long sleeve rash guard surf shirts, but I would warn ya that you may get some scraped up knees. Nothing extremely painful, but you'll go home with reminders that you were surfing.
About halfway through we took a water/snack break and then go back to it. Both Matt & Alejandro showed genuine excitement & happiness when we would successfully catch a wave. I think they both better watch out or I'll end up taking their job! Lol. Can't wait to surf again when I get home.
I'm looking forward to checking out their other activities when I return to Costa Rica, as their cliff jumping & waterfall experiences sounded truly amazing. I followed their Instagram (@Paddle9) and the images/videos look like a ton of fun.
